What does
LOVE FIRST mean?
In the Bible Jesus is very clear that we are to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourself. You can’t love God without loving your neighbor; you can’t love your neighbor without loving God! Because of this, at First UMC, we believe that we are called to put love first in our lives and to live out of a center of love.

Since reading and discussing "The Serviceberry, Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World" by Robin Wall Kimmerer, the Land Stewardship Committee and Board of Trustees propose planting Serviceberry trees at Love First United Methodist Church.
The Serviceberry tree interconnects and provides within the natural world. It represents the intent of our Church's decision to make protecting God's creation a priority in our mission work. Planting trees is one way for us to provide in a gift economy.
"Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry" (Amelanchier x grandiflora) is a species that grows well within zone 4b. Serviceberry trees are self-fertile and can produce fruit on their own. Planting two or more genetically different trees close together increases the berry yield through cross-pollination. We will purchase Serviceberry trees from Klein Nursery in St. Cloud.
The number of trees purchased is based on what our congregation is moved to provide. Please consider sharing in abundance and contributing to our Church's Serviceberry Trees Project and our continued work in preserving God's creation.
