Youth Group Kick-off Fun!

The parents of the Youth got to experience Youth Group and the new redesigned room at the Fall Kick-Off. We went over the necessary details but then dove into a service project common in youth group – tie blankets and sewing more pillows for the room!

Thank you, Carl, for walking us through the land and helping us pay attention
to the beauty available right outside the church doors!

Interpretive Dance

Youth Group + Quest members are invited to join us for an interpretive dance song we are choreographing and learning together to perform at a Sunday service. Practices are every second and forth Sunday from 11:30 am – 12:30 am in the Multipurpose room.

4th Annual No Scare Halloween Fair

Friday, October 25th!
Watch for details and opportunities to contribute throughout the month.

Youth Group
During the school year, grades 7th - 12th grade meet weekly on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Youth Room, following an optional meal at 6:00 pm. We create a safe, welcoming, and fun space for youth to fellowship, make meaningful connections, and grow closer to God. For more information about Youth Group, please fill out the Youth Group Registration Form. Contact Amanda Hodge, Director of Youth Ministry, any time with questions and/or prayer requests.

First Artists Collective (FAC)
The First Artist Collective (a subgroup of Youth Group) is a group of musicians, poets, and artists exploring and deepening our faith through shared artistic expression. We find energy and inspiration in the diverse beauty of God’s creation and in fellowship with one another. We recognize the gifts and talents in our community and welcome those who have not yet found a creative home. We practice our collective art as an offering, actively supporting one another through the fruits of the Spirit and working together to create works of art that honor God and strengthen our community.

About Amanda, Director of Youth Ministry:
Amanda Hodge joined us in September to lead our Youth Ministry into the future by engaging current and new students to connect with God in Jesus Christ. As a church that puts love first in everything we do, living into our mission of inviting, forming, and sending active followers of Jesus, we needed someone who also puts God’s love as the primary guiding principle in her life, and we found her!

Amanda Hodge was born on Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. After her father retired from the military and relocated the family to North Carolina, Amanda was introduced to church by being invited to be a part of a local youth group. Ever since that time, she has been passionate about helping Youth Ministries lead others down the same path that has enriched her own life.

Amanda has led a variety of Youth Ministries at churches in North Carolina and Michigan, as well as on campus during her undergraduate studies at Chowan University. Amanda has many other skills and gifts that she brings to the role, including a degree in Business Administration and, most recently, event planning experience at the University of Denver in Colorado. Amanda is delighted to bring all of these talents, as well as her passion for serving youth, to First United Methodist Church.
